Rod DeHaven holds off South Africa's Laban Nkete to finish 6th in 2:12:41 and as first American at Boston 2001. DeHaven then went on to Chicago on October 7, 2001, to knock a minute off his PR to finish 6th (1st American) there as well in 2:11:40.
